International Conference "Women in Biblical and Parabiblical Texts in Jewish and Christian Literatures of Antiquity"

The International Conference (organized by Michal Bar-Asher Siegal in collaboration with Tobias Nicklas & Jens Schröter) examines the literary and theological development of biblical figures in later second temple, and late antique Jewish and Christian sources. With their papers, the speakers examine not only the individual traditions of each literary corpus, but also the interactions between composers of the various traditions. Do they present the biblical figures similarly? differently? in what way? what can we learn about the hermeneutics of each tradition and the way it approaches the biblical verses? and what can it tell us about the relationship between the texts, their composers and the religious communities that preserves these traditions?
All of these questions and more, can lead to an exciting meeting points between texts and religious traditions, bringing together scholars from different disciplines and fields of study.
