Concerts, karaoke, or art: Regensburg has a lot to offer. There's always something going on, not just at the university, but also in the city. During the summer semester, there's something to do in the city every weekend: people meet at city festivals, at the Dult (traditional fair), or at open-air concerts. The annual festival on campus is a particular highlight of the academic year.

Regensburg is famous for its impressive pub density, which is among the highest in Germany. In the old town, pubs line up one after another, and you can always find a free spot in your favorite pub. What sports activities are available on campus?

The university sports center at the University of Regensburg offers students a wide range of sporting activities and courses to suit every taste and fitness level. From classic sports such as volleyball and yoga to fitness courses and more exotic activities such as underwater rugby or flag football - the program is diverse and varied. The cost per semester is currently €20 for the entire program. Are there student residences in Regensburg?

There are 27 student residences in Regensburg, which are run by various organizations. The Studierendenwerk Niederbayern/Oberpfalz (external link, opens in a new window) offers a large number of halls of residence, which are located in different parts of the city and include various forms of accommodation, such as single rooms, apartments and shared flats. The rents in the halls of residence are often cheaper compared to private apartments and usually include additional costs such as heating, water and internet. How expensive is it to study in Regensburg?

No tuition fees or study contributions

The good news first: there are no tuition fees or tuition fees at the University of Regensburg. Anyone taking a Bachelor's/Master's degree course or aiming for a state examination does not pay any fees. An exception applies to continuing education masters, which are generally subject to a fee.

How much is the semester fee?

Studying is not completely free of charge: students have to pay a semester fee each semester. In winter semester 2025, this fee amounted to a total 201 €. Students pay the semester fee when they enrol and each semester when they re-register.
